History: The original Georgia Hunter Eduction program actually got its start in 1964. This program was made available to the general public around 1975 as a free 12 hour class. The GHEA was actually incorporated in 1986 which provided the Hunter Ed student a place to apply what they learned in the classroom.
Today, the GHEA continues to teach young men and women the basic principles behind firearm safety, hunting ethics, treestand safety, marksmanship, and other important criteria pertaining to safety in the field.
GHEA is a 501 C (3) non-profit organization.
Members are volunteer instructors and Conservation Rangers teaching Hunter Education in Georgia.
Membership is open to individuals, businesses and organizations who believe in and support Hunter Education and who join GHEA as Associate Members.
Staying current with the changing times and conditions of sport hunting through workshops and study seminars.
Offering opportunities to our youth who might not otherwise experience the outdoors via various outdoor events introducing youngsters to shooting, hunting and other outdoor activities.
Working with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources/Wildlife Resources Division, Georgia Wildlife Federation and other wildlife conservation organizations to insure that future generations have the plentiful outdoor opportunities and experiences.
Seeking to provide more avenues and access to the Georgia Hunter Safety classes, one of the prerequisites to obtaining a Georgia hunting license.
